TitanTV has been recognized by Media And Entertainment Business Review Magazine as the exclusive recipient of “Top Broadcast Tools Company of the Year 2026,” based on our proprietary methodology, reflecting its position in the industry, and is also named among “Top Broadcast Equipment Companies,” reflecting its broader leadership. This profile has been developed by the Media And Entertainment Business Review research and editorial team based on insights from an interview with Heidi Steffen, President and Chris Kelly, CEO.
Heidi Steffen, President and Chris Kelly, CEOAt 6:58 p.m., breaking news interrupts the broadcast of a local television station’s evening lineup. As the 7 p.m. program is dropped for live coverage, the change is immediately on air, but the information surrounding that broadcast must catch up. Traffic information, viewer guides and website listings should all be updated and delivered to guide-data providers and downstream systems on time. One missed keystroke can mislead viewers and affect revenue.
TitanTV empowers TV stations with the tools needed to refresh guide information and keep viewership up to date. Heidi Steffen sees everything that happens behind the screen: all that metadata cascading through the broadcast chain. As president, she leads TitanTV and enables local broadcasters to manage programming information across OTA, cable, satellite, streaming services and ATSC 3.0, the next generation of terrestrial TV. TitanTV’s core strength is the software and infrastructure that help broadcasters enter programming once and carry it through the guide-data, station and consumer systems that depend on it.
The goal is to give broadcasters a reliable means of managing and distributing information so that viewers receive an accurate picture of what is actually airing.
Reducing Manual Work Across Broadcast
Modern broadcast stations are running with fewer people, under pressure to reduce costs and do more with less, making double entry across schedules, spreadsheets and downstream systems cumbersome. Every additional platform creates another place for information to be keyed in, checked and updated, which increases the chances of something falling out of sync.
TitanTV’s MediaStar platform addresses that by integrating disparate systems and creating one source of truth for programming. Broadcasters can build schedules, manage contracts and pull reports at the station, group or hub level, while tracking liabilities, payment schedules and amortization. Because the platform is web-based, product improvements based on broadcaster feedback reach every client automatically, with no add-on cost, separate versions or upgrades. That makes TitanTV part of a broadcaster’s workflow, not simply its software stack.
“Broadcasters across the U.S. know they can turn to TitanTV with questions about metadata and schedules. We’ve become a go-to resource for the industry,” says Steffen.
MediaStar supports long-range scheduling, allowing broadcasters to schedule up to five years ahead. That projected programming gives sales teams visibility into upcoming airtime and helps sell future advertisements. When broadcasters can see what is expected to air well ahead, sales teams have a clearer basis for planning future airtime.
Once finalized, the schedule’s value depends on reaching the systems that rely on it. TitanTV’s Direct Data Reporting can send at least three weeks of programming data to Gracenote, TiVo, Simply TV and TV Media, in their required formats and fields. Operators can check, correct and resend an episode or game’s data when needed. Used consistently, the process improves listings, with that accuracy driving ratings and advertising decisions.
Television schedules can change after they are sent out. MediaStar’s Quick Edit lets operators quickly revise current, future or past programming without starting over. They can then publish the updated day to the broadcaster’s TitanTV Guide and PSIP data. The feature began with one broadcaster’s need and became broadly useful.
Expanding the Reach of Local Television Data
TitanTV carries local programming information into TitanTV.com, its consumer-facing TV guide that covers cable, satellite and streaming services. Viewers can blend OTA and OTT channels, save favorites and receive schedule updates from the station.
AntennaWeb, also operated by TitanTV, addresses an earlier question: which local channels can a household receive? By entering an address, it maps the available channels, shows what is airing and indicates the type of antenna needed for reception, along with the direction to point it.
Behind it is the company’s proprietary station-management database, tracking verified U.S. channels and affiliations through direct broadcaster relationships nationwide. That signal-prediction capability also feeds Watch NextGen TV, where TitanTV powers the back end, helping consumers identify ATSC 3.0 channels in their market. This data helps viewers discover which local channels they can receive and watch.
Together, these capabilities connect station information with practical decisions in the home, from choosing an antenna to finding a program. As viewing options expand, making local television easy to locate remains an essential part of serving its audience.
The Culture Built by Broadcasters, for Broadcasters
TitanTV’s successful approach for over 30 years has centered on one idea, “listen to what users need, not just what they say.”
That starts with a needs analysis. TitanTV’s in-house development team studies each broadcaster’s systems, staffing, hub structure and workflow before configuring and testing the right tools. Since each station works differently, TitanTV builds around its needs rather than applying one setup everywhere.
Broadcasters can trial MediaStar, train users and test the data with existing systems before signing up. This helps address issues early and have the product running when the contract starts. Once the platform is in use, broadcasters still have direct access to the team. Responsiveness runs from front-line support to the higher management, with even five-minute questions receiving responses quickly. That diligence and expertise reach the wider industry through Guide 101, helping broadcasters, including non-clients, improve metadata accuracy and guide data delivery so consumers receive reliable programming information and the ecosystem works better.
The Next Frequency: ATSC 3.0 and Beyond
The broadcast industry is in transition, and TitanTV is adapting its capabilities as ATSC 3.0 gains momentum.
The NextGen TV standard opens the door to a richer metadata environment, and MediaStar already supports details for Start Over, VOD, additional audio, closed captions and links. Broadcasters can indicate restart rights, on-demand availability and whether audience measurement applies, including rules for children’s programming in California, New York and Arkansas. Some of these elements work with ATSC 1.0, while others are ready for 3.0. TitanTV is also adding live FAST and CTV channels, diversifying the platform as viewing changes.
TitanTV is also exploring Brazil as a potential market, given its significant OTA audience and movement toward elements of ATSC 3.0. That long-standing focus on local TV and the ability to connect, streamline and continually strengthen the systems behind it underpin the company’s recognition as Top Broadcast Tools Company of the Year 2026.
As ATSC 3.0 opens new possibilities in the sector, TitanTV is enhancing its existing tools to meet emerging requirements while keeping programming information dependable across a fragmented viewing environment.
Whether a broadcaster is planning years ahead or responding to breaking news minutes before airtime, the underlying need is the same: efficient, accurate schedules that can move with the programming. By connecting that information across station workflows and consumer services, TitanTV helps broadcasters turn the work behind the scenes into a better experience in front of it.
